As a team working together across Glasgow and Dundee we are so excited to welcome you all to the Vic Bar and Assembly Hall for a year of highly anticipated arts festival, club night, cozy pub evenings, educational workshops and everything else the creatives of Glasgow have to offer!
We will be kicking off the year with a Burns Night Ceilidh and club night on the 31st January and look forward to a year of arts festivals, workshops, club nights and all kinds of exciting activities happening within this space.
With all the excitement and joy of what's to come I also want to take this moment to pause and look back and celebrate all the hard work that has gotten us to this point.
We are currently excepting internal and external bookings for the rest of the academic year:

When I first ran for the role of Vice-President, I promised to lead a Students' Association that was a ‘home away from home’ for all students. As a student I was moved by the stories of all those who found a home on the tiled club floor, all those who lived, loved and grew up in this space and like so many before me fell in love with the magic of the Assembly Building and everything it had to offer.
My time at the Students' Association has taught me so much and I would recommend anyone who's in interested in community organizing and representation to think about running to be a Sabbatical Officer.
Now we need a new cohort of Sabbatical Officers to lead the Students’ Association. Running to be an officer is a unique opportunity and you get the chance to work with some incredible individuals and lead projects that really make a difference to the student community.
The GSASA Sabbatical Elections will be opening this February and with the re-opening of the Vic Bar now is a very exciting time to run for a position. Sabbatical Officers are full-time salaried positions, where you lead and champion the student voice, any student can run and if you are interested, we would really encourage you to get in touch.
You can find out more information about the roles on our website.
Please email us at a.bickerstaff@gsa.ac.u. & r.dennis@gsa.ac.uk if you would like to discuss this further!
So much hard work, sweat and tears has gone into getting these heavy doors permanently opened. The last few months the entire GSASA and DUSA team has been working tirelessly to make this opening happen. Thank you to all the students who have supported and believed in the possibilities of this space. Finally, this would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our Board of Trustees, previous Sabbatical Officers and Staff who have put so much tireless energy, passion and care into this space. I want to thank every individual who has contributed their time and effort into bringing this space to life and welcome you all to come and see the impact off your hard work.
Now most importantly we need you... the staff, students, creatives and everyone who keeps the heart of Glasgow beating to use, enjoy and most importantly make yourselves at home here. We want to create magic for a new generation and a space that all students can call home. The Vic is a home for everyone; somewhere to seek shelter from the outside world, find their chosen family, and create in harmony.
So come down for a pint of Tennents, a game of pool or just to listen and learn from one another in a safe and inclusive space.
