OPEN CALL FOR ARTWORK
ARTWORK AND DECORATIONS:
Students at GSA!! We are doing a call out for an installation which will be part of the GSASA X PONYBOY Degree Show After Party night at the Art school on Thursday 1st June 2023.
The theme of the night is: Make Believe
We want you all to tune into a frequency of pure imagination and surrealism.
We want to have a night in which we explore our possible collapsed pasts or the versions of ourselves that exist in different time periods or within different cinematic universes.
Imagine you invented or reinvented yourself within a factory - what are you? What's your story? Are you from this universe? Where are you going?
The theme is therefore incredibly vague and can be taken in many different ways and directions but ultimately, we want to contribute to a space that feels otherworldly, distorted and interesting for our attendees.
We will be selecting up to 6 successful applications who will each be given £50 to pay to rent their artwork for the project space. Additionally, your work will be posted on the GSASA and PONYBOY instagrams. As this is a short turn around, we are expecting work that is already made and are not looking for new works. This work can be painting, sculptures, projections, installation etc. we want to see your best!
For the application, please write a 250-word (maximum) description of the work you would like to install in a PDF doc to Josie KO by May 22nd. This document can also include pics of the finalised piece.
ANIMATED AND VISUAL ARTWORK CALL OUT:
We will also separately have visuals projected during the night on large screens. We will also be considering submissions for digituals/visuals. The visuals should feel immersive and as though our attendees are being pulled into another world/reality. The successful applicants will be similarly reimbursed £50, aqnd get a free ticket for the night. We will be selecting up to 3 successful applicants
The artworks will need to be ready to be installed in the building from May 29nd (so you will have 2 weeks to create the work if it is new) and will need risk assessment forms completed.
Applications for all visual work closes on May 22nd and you will find out if your work has been chosen by May 25th. Please send all submissions to Josie KO.
