A Project Spaces Exhibition hosted by the GSASA has raised hundreds of pounds to help Scotland's homeless population.
Luke Aitken's Street Perspective took place in one of our Project Spaces in November 2024 and has raised £600 through selling copies and photobooks of the photographs taken by Iain, Peter, Martin and Florian - four Glaswegians experiencing homelessness.
The money raised by Luke, a GSA student, will help those experiencing homelessness to "start living a safe and comfortable life."
He said: "Thank you to all that came, looked and purchased at my first run at an exhibition. It was exhausting but very good to see what was months in the making finally come to fruition.
"All the money from the books sold make up the £600 donation, so thank you to all those who bought one."
Luke met the four photographers in Glasgow and offered them this paid opportunity to share their perspectives through the lens of a disposable camera. Thus, with the help of "generous donations" to cover the exhibition's costs, Street Perspective was born.
"Generous donations from individuals helped cover the costs of book production and exhibition costs," Luke continued, "So a massive thank you to those people - you know who you are.
"Also thanks to the GSASA for giving the exhibition a home."
Our Project Spaces are free to use for students who wish to put on extracurricular exhibitions, workshops, performances and more.
They can be a playground for experimentation in which ideas are transformed into spaces where students can unleash their creativity.
Keep an eye on our channels for when the next round of Project Spaces applications open up.
